P&A for Beneficiaries of SS (PABSS)

PABSS 2023-2024 PRIORITIES

Our PABSS program helps people remove barriers to being successfully employed. Some of those barriers include denial of reasonable accommodations, lack of accessible transportation to get to work, or being discriminated against while at work. Potential clients must be under age 65, and must currently be receiving SSI and/or SSDI.

DRNY provides free advocacy, legal assistance, outreach, education, and training to individuals with disabilities who are:

  • Receiving Social Security Benefits
  • Are currently attempting to obtain, maintain, or return to work
  • Who are experiencing barriers in their efforts to work

Who is Eligible for PABSS Services?

PABSS clients must be recipients of Social Security disability benefits, including SSDI, SSI, Medicaid and/or Medicare. PABSS was created through the Ticket to Work and Work Incentive Improvement Act of 1999, but an individual DOES NOT need to be using a Ticket to be eligible for services under the PABSS grant.
